History


The establishment of WP/KE/ Jayakody Maha Vidyalaya was pioneered by the most venerable Welivitiye Soratha Maha Nayake Thero with 67 students on 14
th October 1956, now it’s pristine glory of 62 years.

The started name was “Jayakody Mudalindu Kanitu Bodu Pasala” the Lady Siridaththa Jayakody had donated lands to create this school under the exhorted by the Ven Kendaliyaddapaluwe Pannarathana Thero.

Later on, due to lack of space in the Dharmashala of the temple and requirements of the new buildings had been arisen, according these issues the new building was constructed by the MP Kamalawarna Jayakody who was son of the Lady Siridaththa Jayakody.

Today Jayakody Maha Vidyalaya caters to over 1700 students in 13 grade as primary and secondary sections. This school belongs to “Navodya School” category as well. The project of the “nearest school is the best school” has been giving   a good strength to develop qualitative and quantitative sides of the school.
